Why Brands Get It Wrong

Throughout my career, I've focused on understanding the reasons behind brand failures. The aim of my consultancy is to guide consumers closer to making a purchase. While there are numerous factors that can hinder a brand's success beyond the scope of marketing, I've identified three critical areas for my consultancy to explore initially.

Missing The Bigger Picture

There seems to be little understanding as to how everything comes together to make a purchasing decision. Often I see marketing departments focus on external factors, such as spending habits, seasonal spending. But I tend to find that the reasons run deeper than that. Often times it has less to do with looking outwards for answers, and more inwards.

Engagements Fall Short

Every touchpoint matters, whether it's a billboard or social media post, but most of the time they're not treated as such and designed individually with no regards to how it's integrated into the overall brand experience. When the consumer meets that touchpoint, it fails to entice a reaction or memory.

False Expectations

Is your product a need or a want? How similar is your value proposition compared to competitors? What is the size and average marketing spend in your industry? The answers to these questions vastly changes the direction of your business and marketing strategy.
